A Photo that Says it All ~ Individualism v. Conformity

Art museums are very revealing. They demonstrate conformity at its finest.

What makes art valuable? Does it have to do with the skill of the artist, the level of intrigue depicted, or maybe a fascinating perspective?

Perhaps, but more often than not, the value of art is defined merely by what everyone else thinks is valuable.

I’ve seen great art. I can tell you precisely how I define great artistry. But I won’t, because that’s how I define it, and that shouldn’t matter to you. Its purely subjective.

Yet walk into an art museum and what do you find? The art determined to be the most valuable is highlighted, some even have their own entire room.

I’ll grant that I’m not the most sophisticated guy by society’s standards, but I’ve yet to enter a museum where I didn’t’ find at least one piece of art that left me wondering “How did this even get in here? This is terrible”

And this is why I love this photo so much. You have a couple of kids in an art gallery not burdened by any social pressures. They are surrounded by art that is valued enough to be placed on display.

And yet, what are thinking?

“Forget what everyone else thinks. I’ll tell you what’s interesting. Its what is inside this wall!”

21 Most Beautiful birds around the world to shock you with their beauty

By Jagriti Goswami  July 6, 2018

The most beautiful bird in the world is… Does anyone know? Or who could possibly answer this question? I guess it is nobody, because, a majority of birds in this world are just so mesmerizing. However, some species certainly have attractive features that can leave the rest behind.

Here’s a list of the world’s 21 most beautiful birds.

1. The Golden Pheasant Bird

Credit: wikia.nocookie.net

These blazing birds are inhabitants of western China. Their neck side encircles an orange shade which actually provides a purpose: when it is time to find a partner, then a male will spread his cape like a fan to show off or flaunt his beautiful colors.

2. The Quetzal Bird

Credit: blogspot.com

Forests of Central America is home to the Quetzal species. An odd variety of feathers is not the only thing they possess but they do have weird hair and hairs and also they have a healthy desire for food; in short foodie. From lizards, insects, small creatures, and even fruits, they are just ready to eat everything.

3. Rainbow Lorikeet Bird

This intensely hued parrot looks like an artist has shown his brushing skills. Rainbow Lorikeets are often seen along the eastern coast of Australia and also found in the Austrian and American region. They prefer hanging in rainforests, woodland areas, and coastal bush. By drinking fermented nectar, they can also become drunk ones.

4. The Kingfisher Bird

As their name indicates, Kingfishers are skillful fishers. Kingfishers can eat a wide variety of foods besides fish, the credit goes to their large, strong bills. Other than fishes they prey on frogs, insects, crabs, rats, lizards, and even other birds. When they hunt, they usually sit on a high point and wait to see the prey. Once the victim is spotted, a Kingfisher will bring it back to its peak and kill it.

5. Keel-Billed Toucans Bird

These birds are indigenous to Belize. They are known for their colorful bills, which come in a wide range of bright colors. Their glittering body is not the only quality they have: they are known for their fearless nature because they wait quietly for the most severe storms.

6. Bohemian Waxwing

Credit: cloudfront.net

Bohemian Waxwing can be recognized by a specific tuft (a bunch of feathers, grass, or hair etc.) which can be seen at the top of his head. Nevertheless, this bird at first glance may not strike you but a close inspection shows a wonderful mix of gray, rose, yellow and black colors that blend beautifully. The body of Bohemian Waxwing is usually found in gray color, but it has rose-colored feathers in its face whereas its tail has a bright yellow tip.

7. Painted Bunting Bird

Credit: wildsouthflorida.com

Gender is the deciding factor in this. The Painted Bunting comes with different colorful wings. The female claims to have different colors of olive green throughout the body, while the male is fascinated by a very different color pattern in which the red on the chest, blue on the head, green on the upper wings, and yellow on the shoulders. 20. The Northern Cardinal Bird

Credit: celebrateurbanbirds.org

If you are in their home then you can never miss an opportunity to find North Cardinal. Their hot red wings and wacky, pointed crests will catch eyes of anyone. They also keep their red plumage (feathers covering a bird) in the winter. In the summer, they are whistle fans in the morning.

Melancholy Creatures Explore Imagined Worlds in Wistful Murals by Hayley Welsh

July 29, 2019  Laura Staugaitis

Hayley Welsh’s playful murals pair imaginative creatures with universal messages of uplift and encouragement. Often featuring furry, plump critters that seem to be hybrids of dogs, rabbits, and teddy bears, Welsh’s subjects peer through periscopes atop mechanical fish or aboard paper boats, tug clouds from penny farthing bicycles, and sprout trees as antlers. Occasionally, Basquiat-esque crown motifs appear as well.

In a statement on her website, Welsh’s “ominously soft” work “explores inner voices of self doubt and fear, weaving a poignant narrative into every piece?—a message for each person to reflect on in the moment.” The British-born artist lives and works between Perth, Australia and Blackburn, U.K. Explore more of her outdoor and gallery-based artwork on her website and Instagram.

One Minute Art History: A Hand-Drawn Animation in Myriad Historical Art Styles

February 9, 2018  Laura Staugaitis

Filmmaker and educator Cao Shu captures the history of art in an experimental short film that lasts for

less than one minute. Throughout the film, the central character goes through the small motions of everyday movements like checking the time and having a drink, with each frame rendered in a different art historical style. The film starts in ancient Egypt and progresses through Chinese ink paintings and Japanese block prints to Modigliani and Basquiat-style portraits. Cao renders a vast array of art styles in a manner that is evocative without being overworked. He lives and works in Hangzhou, where he teaches at the China Academy of Art.

Despite claims that the consumption of sugary drinks may lead to an estimated 184,000 adult deaths each year worldwide, the soda industry is still a $75-billion market. The good news is: there are solutions.
It is still possible to limit climate change, protect our planet and safeguard our future.
Technology is on our side.
I am convening a Climate Action Summit in September.
And I am telling global leaders to bring concrete plans.
“Earth Hour is an opportunity to show support for ambitious climate action, by turning off your lights this Saturday, March 30th, at 8:30 p.m. local time.

?????? ????????? is a Russian painter?, a master of whimsical and narrative art. Subjects include fantasy landscapes, russian folklore, theatre and mermaids.
Victor’s art can be highly symbolic with hidden clues to help decipher the images. His work can also be humbly simple with images and subjects of universal appeal.
They can be equally viewed for their vibrant textured colors that fill the canvas and contrast with the translucent glazes that make the paintings dance with light and pull in those who view it.
Victor breathes life into each work inviting the viewer into the painting as a separate universe, one filled with boldness, energy and rich hues.

Victor Nizovtsev was born in Central Siberia, in the city of Ulan-Ude near Lake Baikal. When Victor was a little boy his family moved from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova. Victor grew up in Kotovsk, a town located in the heart of the region’s wine country and 30 miles southeast of the capital of Moldova, Chisinau.

At age nine he entered Kotovsk’s Art School for Children where he studied for four years.
In the 9th grade, he left home to study at Ilia Repin College for Art in Chisinau. He then studied at the prestigious Vera Muhina University for Industrial Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The Last Day Posts of Ing on Google+ Site April 1, 2019 Part 2

Google + closed their operation on April 2, of this year, 2019.  It is more than one week now.  The more time goes by, the more I miss people who followed my google + site, and people that contributed their time to post their work in different communities.  I decided to present on my website, the contents of last day of posts on my Google+ site, which I had been shared from other members of my community and other Google+ communities.

It is to remind me of human interaction and relationships around the world.  Even though I did not see them in person, communication and participation with their ideas, and work, can interconnect our feeling of kinship.  I wish all of them the best, and hope we may meet again in the future.  The lesson one learns is that we need more interactions and communications between all humans around the world to be able to find kinship with one another.  This communication can help reduce human conflict and war that occurs around the world, now, and in the future.

The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that’s what you’ve given me. That’s what I’d hoped to give you forever………

Google+ is no longer available for consumer (personal) and brand accounts

From all of us on the Google+ team,
thank you for making Google+ such a special place.

What happened to Google+?

In December 2018, we announced our decision to shut down Google+ for consumers in April 2019.

Other Google products (such as Gmail, Google Photos, Google Drive, YouTube) were not shut down as part of the consumer Google+ shutdown and you can continue using those products. The Google Account you use to sign in to these services will remain. Note that photos and videos already backed up in Google Photos will not be deleted. Learn more

What happened to my Google+ content?

We are in the process of deleting content from consumer Google+ accounts and Google+ pages. This process will take a few months to complete, and content may remain through this time. In the meantime, if you previously created content on Google+, you may be able to download and save your remaining Google+ content and delete your Google+ profile. You may also be able to view and delete your remaining Google+ activity.

If I also use Google+ with my G Suite account, for example at work or school, how will I be impacted?

Google+ for G Suite will continue as a way for people across an organization to have discussions. Learn more about how we’re continuing our investment in Google+ for G Suite.

If you’re not sure if your organization uses G Suite, you can check here. G Suite customers may see some changes to Google+ features related to the consumer Google+ shutdown. You can find more details here or you can talk to your G Suite administrator to learn more.

See the full FAQ for more details about the consumer Google+ shutdown.”

Hypnotic New Kinetic Sculptures by Anthony Howe

January 15, 2016

Christopher Jobson

Di-Octo. All stainless steel kinetic wind sculpture. Silent operation. 25’6?h x 10’w x 4’6?”d (7.8m h x 3m w x 1.4m d) 1,600lbs (725kg)

Artist Anthony Howe (previously) continues to amaze with his gargantuan kinetic sculptures powered by wind or motors that cycle continuously through hypnotic motions that resemble something between the tentacles of an octopus and an alien spacecraft. Weighing up to 1,600 lbs (725kg), each artwork is first built digitally to test how it will move and react to the force of wind once fabricated in the real world. Seen here are three new sculptures titled Di-Octo, In Cloud Light III, and Switchback. You can see more recent work in his portfolio.
