Loving Vincent Teaser Trailer 2

Loving Vincent   Published on Nov 16, 2016

https://lovingvincent.com/ Loving Vincent is the world’s first fully painted feature film. Written & Directed by Dorota Kobiela & Hugh Welchman, produced by Poland’s BreakThru Films & UK’s Trademark Films. The film brings the paintings of Vincent van Gogh to life to tell his remarkable story. Every one of the 65,000 frames of the film is an oil-painting hand-painted by 125 professional oil-painters who travelled from all across Europe to the Loving Vincent studios in Poland and Greece to be a part of the production. As remarkable as Vincent’s brilliant paintings, is his passionate and ill-fated life, and mysterious death. No other artist has attracted more legends than Vincent van Gogh. Variously labelled a martyr, a lustful satyr, a madman, a genius and a layabout, the real Vincent is at once revealed in his letters, and obscured by myth and time. Vincent himself said in his last letter: ‘We cannot speak other than by our paintings’. We take him at his word and let the paintings tell the real story of Vincent van Gogh. Loving Vincent was first shot as a live action film with actors then hand-painted over frame-by-frame in oils. The final effect is an interaction of the performance of the actors playing Vincent’s famous portraits, and the performance of the painting animators, bringing these characters into the medium of paint. Loving Vincent stars famous faces to match the famous paintings they portray: “We cannot speak other than by our paintings” Written by Vincent van Gogh in a letter the week before his death In cinemas 2017…. https://twitter.com/LovingVincent https://www.facebook.com/lovingvincen… https://www.instagram.com/lovingvince…

A Suspended Neon Net Invites Guests to Bounce Stories Above a Paris Shopping Center

April 19, 2019    Kate Sierzputowski

A circular net in a bright shades of neon greens, yellows, and pinks hovers above the Paris-based shopping complex Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann in a new installation to celebrate the impending arrival of summer. The suspended playground gives visitors a chance to at once lay underneath the brilliant dome at the center of the building, while also watching shoppers bustling on the ground floor below. The installation is a part of the store’s Funorama initiative which in addition to the central play area, also includes “fun zones” such as old school arcade games, a VR experience, and foosball. Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann invites guests to play, bounce, and lounge on the colorful

structure through June 9, 2019. (via fubiz)

In a story of scientific discovery, chemical biologist David R. Liu shares a breakthrough: his lab’s development of base editors that can rewrite DNA. This crucial step in genome editing takes the promise of CRISPR to the next level: if CRISPR proteins are molecular scissors, programmed to cut specific DNA sequences, then base editors are pencils, capable of directly rewriting one DNA letter into another. Learn more about how these molecular machines work — and their potential to treat or even cure genetic diseases.

Economics PhD Sebastião Salgado only took up photography in his 30s, but the discipline became an obsession. His years-long projects beautifully capture the human side of a global story that all too often involves death, destruction or decay. Here, he tells a deeply personal story of the craft that nearly killed him, and shows breathtaking images from his latest work, Genesis, which documents the world’s forgotten people and places.

This talk was presented at an official TED conference, and was featured by our editors on the home page.

About the speaker

Sebastião Salgado · Photojournalist

Sebastião Salgado captures the dignity of the dispossessed through large-scale, long-term projects.

Gallery: A love letter to the planet

May 1, 2013 / Helen Walters

Ask photojournalists to name a peer they admire, and Sebastião Salgado’s name is sure to crop up. The Brazilian is renowned for the long-term projects he undertakes, devoting years at a time to documenting the story of a particular people or the evolution of a certain place. As he describes in the talk he gave at TED2013, his attention to detail and his personal attachment to his subjects caused health problems that nearly killed him.

Thankfully, he didn’t give up. His most recent project is Genesis, which he describes as “my love letter to the planet” and for which he spent eight years traveling the world to photograph humans, animals and nature in their native glory. (To read more details about Salgado’s process, see this rather lovely Q&A with TED photographer Ryan Lash.) The resulting black-and-white images include the astonishing shot, above, of a Southern right whale, which he photographed in the Valdés Peninsula in Argentina in 2004. Together, the series forms the focus of a book (including a vast, two-volume edition that costs $9,000 and comes complete with a wooden stand designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando; mere mortals can pick up a hardcover version for $69.99). There’s also a documentary, Shade and Light, filmed by Salgado’s son and Wim Wenders, and exhibitions in cities around the world.

The scale is appropriate. This is truly breathtaking work. And, for all that the scenes Salgado captures will likely feel alien to most of us, the images are imbued with no less than the spirit of humanity. If that sounds overblown, seriously, check these out:

The Nenet people, living deep within the Yamal peninsula in Siberia, inside the Arctic Circle. (2011.)

Light streams across an elephant disappearing into the bush. Kafue National Park, Zambia. (2010.)

Shot from Navajo Native American territory, this breathtaking image captures the junction of the Colorado and Little Colorado rivers, at the gateway to the Grand Canyon National Park, in Arizona in the United States. (2010.)

Look, ma! No hands! Salgado photographed these chinstrap penguins on icebergs between the Zavodovski and Visokoi islands in the South Sandwich Islands, near Antarctica. (2009.)

Women of the Zo’é village of Towari Ypy in Brazil. (2009.)

Teureum is the leader of the Mentawai clan, which lives on Siberut Island in West Sumatra. The shaman is preparing a filter for sago. (2008.)

Waura Indians fish in the Puilanga Lake near their village in the Upper Xingu region of Brazil’s Mato Grosso state. (2005.)

An iceberg photographed on the Antarctic Peninsula. Note the “castle tower,” at top right, apparently carved in the ice by wind erosion. (2005.)

The vast tail of a Southern right whale, photographed near Argentina in 2004.

How To Use Essential Oils To Keep Mosquitoes Away

Mosquitoes are a perennial problem, but it becomes especially acute during the warm summer months. What an unfortunate coincidence that this happens just when everything else is perfect for outdoor life. The buzz and bite of mosquitoes can spoil an outdoor party and ruin a family gathering out in the garden or patio. Of late, they have become more than a nuisance, what with the diseases–some of them quite debilitating and deadly–spread by these pesky insects.

Liberty – New York City Timelapse 4K

Michael Shainblum   Published on Jan 8, 2019

“Liberty – New York City Timelapse 4K” I vividly remember my first experience of New York City as a kid, before I became a photographer. The shear sense of scale, the incredible architecture and just the over all feeling I got walking around the city. That experience became one of the reasons I got into photography. Ever since then, it has been my dream to recreate that feeling into a short timelapse film. From the sensory overload of standing on a busy New York street corner. To the tranquility of standing on a skyscraper, like being on top of the world. This is a dedication to my favorite city in the world. “Liberty” Is a visual journey through New York City captured through timelapse and hyperlapse photography. The video consists of about 15,000 still photographs captured from 2016-2018. You can check out more images from the collection here: https://www.shainblumphoto.com/project… By Michael Shainblum https://www.shainblumphoto.com/ Soundtrack: James Everingham – What Once Was https://www.jameseveringham.com/

Google + closed their operation on April 2, of this year, 2019.  It is more than one week now.  The more time goes by, the more I miss people who followed my google + site, and people that contributed their time to post their work in different communities.  I decided to present on my website, the contents of last day of posts on my Google+ site, which I had been shared from other members of my community and other Google+ communities.

It is to remind me of human interaction and relationships around the world.  Even though I did not see them in person, communication and participation with their ideas, and work, can interconnect our feeling of kinship.  I wish all of them the best, and hope we may meet again in the future.  The lesson one learns is that we need more interactions and communications between all humans around the world to be able to find kinship with one another.  This communication can help reduce human conflict and war that occurs around the world, now, and in the future.

The First Trailer for ‘Loving Vincent,’ an Animated Film Featuring 12 Oil Paintings per Second by Over 100 Painters

February 26, 2016   Christopher Jobson

The first trailer for Loving Vincent (previously) was just released and it promises stunning visuals in a novel format: the film was created from a staggering 12 oil paintings per second in styles inspired by the famous Dutch painter’s brushstrokes. The upcoming movie will detail the story of Van Gogh’s life leading up to the tumultuous time surrounding his death some 125 years ago. This will be my last post on this platform that gave me a place to show my work to the world for the last 7 years. As we all face the shutdown of our communities and personal pages by April 2nd 2019, I wanted to reach out and say thank you to all the people which participated in my journey here.
I met passionate, open minded and highly gifted people and received more positive feedback than I would ever imagine. Hundred sixtyfive thousand followers is no small number, and I appreciated every new one during the last years. Thank you to those who have been interacting, all your +1s and comments really meant a lot to me….

Times were changing, a new job and a growing family left little time to keep up the output in the quality and theme I envisioned for you to enjoy. Still, there is much to come and I would love to meet you again on Facebook and Instagram.

I love flowers. They are beautiful. I wait for the weather to change till spring, and then I can go to my backyard garden. I cultivate my garden, seeing the plants rising and growing each day. Then the magic comes when the flowers greet me. I spend hours in my little garden. To keep the beauty of these flowers in winter when I long to see them, I take a lot of pictures. Thanks to the evolution of digital cameras I can take photographs and print to give to friends or make a slide show or movie. When I sat wanting to compose the finished artwork from the LGBTQ youth comments poster I thought of something beautiful. I want this group of youths to feel beautiful just like my beautiful flowers. When we feel beautiful then we feel good. As long as we feel happy we can do a lot of things no matter what some people say. The video is a combination of sections of my finished artwork, which shows the written comments from the LGBTQ youth on, “What does Peace mean to you?” on my Peace Project Poster, accompanied with beautiful flower images that I took from our backyard garden. I also composed some poems for the, LGBTQ Youth’s Comments Project, for my website. I only integrated one poem into the video. If you would like to view more artwork and poems please visit https://ingpeaceproject.com/1-academy-... from my website: www.ingpeaceproject.com

Equality for All

There will be no Peace Without equality
If the scale of justice Is unbalanced
There are always reasons for oppressors
To put others down
At one time women could not own property
And could not vote
Slaves of all races could be sold like cattle
And others historically were also treated wickedly
Humanity has evolved
Using our brains and our knowledge
To progress and change
Change we must!
Equality is balance
Human Rights is for all
And equality is for all
This will bring peace to the world

15,000 Black Paper Butterflies Swarm the Fondazione Adolfo Pini for Carlos Amorales’s Latest Installation of ‘Black Cloud’

April 17, 2019  Kate Sierzputowski

Hordes of black butterflies of various sizes and species cover the grand staircase, mirrors, walls, and

doors of the Milan-based Fondazione Adolfo Pini. The dark and vast swarm is a part of the more than 10-year series Black Cloud by Mexican artist Carlos Amorales (previously) as a part of his solo exhibition THE ACCURSED HOUR. The butterflies surround an installation of paper cut-outs from his series Life in the folds, a project of gray-toned human and tree silhouettes which address the nature of human violence against other humans. The exhibition opened April 2 and continues through July 8, 2019. You can see more of Amorales’s projects on his website and Instagram. (via designboom)

For most of its history, it specialized in self-driving software and sensors for commercial, industrial and military use, before recently shifting its attention to consumer vehicles. Earlier this year, it announced a partnership with public transportation company Transdev to create autonomous shuttles that connect people to transit. The #autonomousdriving company is headquartered in Blacksburg, Va., where Torc and Daimler executives announced the deal.

Sir Thomas Wyatt: Poems Summary and Analysis of ‘Madam, Withouten Many Words’

Summary
In the first verse of the song, the narrator challenges his lady directly to decide whether she is accepting of his suit. In the first four lines he asks her to give up her tricks and rely instead on her wit to impress him and show her true worth.
He explains in the second verse that he burns with passion, and requests that if she has any compassion for him, she would tell him clearly, yes or no.

By the final verse, he says that he will be happy with the answer yes, but if she says no, they will return to being friends as they were before. She will then be free to move on to get herself a new man, and the narrator will be independent again, and no longer possessed by the lady.

Analysis
The song is direct in its message, short and to the point. It is a contrast to the plaintive appeals of the wronged lover, in that the narrator asks directly for an acknowledgement of the lady’s true feelings. The opening address is polite but curt; the narrator does not wish to use many words – the implication being that many may have already been wasted on this subject.

The brevity and clarity of purpose and direction in this song is a refreshing deviation from the traditional sorrowful and grief-stricken appeal to the lost love. The narrator tells the lady to leave her ‘bourds’, or tricks, and instead reveal her wit publicly. Here Wyatt suggests that the lady who is the intended audience is more than the average court beauty – she has intelligence too, a trait not often commended in women at this time. This appeal to the lady to show her cleverness publicly would fit with the historical accounts of Anne Boleyn as a sharp and knowledgeable woman, as well as a great beauty.

In the second verse the narrator talks of himself as one who ’burns alway’. This expression could suggest that he is tortured by his rejection, but there are other implications to this phrase. The narrator could equally burn with anger, shame or even in the recognition of his sin. A likely interpretation of Wyatt’s intention would be a combination of these. Courtly liaisons were rarely private affairs for long, and Wyatt had at least two relationships that were controversial and public – one with Anne Boleyn and another with Elizabeth Darrell. In addition to this, Wyatt’s marriage was destroyed by his wife’s infidelity; the author certainly experienced being ‘burnt’ in relationships. He asks if she has pity but does not directly ask for pity. This distinction is important in affirming the strength of the narrator in the relationship.

The final verse suggests that the ‘yes’ or ‘no’ will not have dramatic implications but rather clear and purposeful ones. If she agrees to his suit, then he will be ‘fain’ (happy). There is of course a clever pun at use here as the homophone ‘feign’ means false, and it would be difficult to tell the two words apart without seeing the written word. If the narrator is rejected, he says that they will return to being friends. There is no implication that he will be destroyed by grief or will mourn forever; the result will be undramatic. The narrator callously implies that the lady will move on to another lover. He, however, will be content to be ‘mine own’ – his own man. His final words show that he will be relieved to no longer be owned by the lady. His freedom sounds much more appealing than her return to the fakery of courtly relationships, which again affirms the strength of the narrator as opposed to the audience.

Dear Google+,
thank you for the good time, I will miss you. I always felt like a beta user. When you let us share circles and when you took that ability away from us. When you introduced events, when you took them away and when you half-heartedly put them back somewhere. When you integrated everything into Google+ and when you ripped everything apart. I liked you even when you introduced collections.
I also felt that your child G+ was not what you hoped it would be and started neglecting it more and more, and so I was not surprized when you, or rather “the media”, anounced that you would shut it down. Now that time has come.
I am sad, but not devastated. I met a lot of great people. I learned a lot on here, from those people. I met many of these people in real life and made real friends with some of them. I am thankful for that opportunity.

Dear Google+ friends,
I will miss you too, however, I’m not going away, just moved. I have already met many of you on the other platforms, although none of them really attracts me like Google+ did. Slow, bad image quality, weiredest sort algorithms, too many emoticons (really, I mean, if I want to say more than a + or a thumb up, or a heart, whatever, write half of a sentence!)

Tiffany Bozic is a self-taught artist based in Marin, CA who has spent the majority of her life observing the intricacies of the natural world.

Drawing inspiration from her extensive travels to wild places, and the research specimens at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, she composes beautiful large-scale nature illustrations blended with surreal and metaphorical themes.

To create her compositions, Bozic uses multiple layers of watered down acrylic paint on maple wood panels which give a realistic level of detail to each of her paintings.

Rare and Endangered Butterfly Species Recreated in Glass by Laura Hart

April 20, 2019   Andrew LaSane

Glass artist Laura Hart (previously) uses a range of techniques to translate her love of plants and animals into meticulously crafted sculptures. For her “Butterflies” series, the artist has recreated rare species and subspecies from around the world with bright colors and symmetrical designs that perfectly mimic their natural muses.

Never recreating the same species twice, Hart casts the bodies of her one-of-a-kind insects using the lost wax molding and pate de verre kiln casting processes. Each delicate sculpture is around 18cm wide. A glass fusing method is used to make the realistic wings in stages, with intense hues and translucent sections outlined in black. The sections form tiny stained glass windows, altering the light that passes through and reflecting onto the tables and display stands. Sterling silver pieces are added to complete the sculptures, forming the legs, antennae, and proboscides of the colorful creatures.

To see more of Laura Hart’s glass works, check out the artist’s Facebook page.

Where Art Meets Gif: The Hypnotic Animated Gifs of David Szakaly

March 17, 2014   Christopher Jobson

Since 2008 Hungarian/German graphic designer David Szakaly has been churning out some of the most dizzying, hypnotic and wholly original gifs on the web under the name Davidope. His blend of twisting organic forms, flashes of black and white, and forays into pulsing technicolor shapes have inspired legions of others to experiment with the medium, many of whom have been featured here on Colossal. It’s hard to determine the scale of Szakaly’s influence online, but a simple Google image search for “animated gif” brings up dozens of his images that have been shared around Tumblr hundreds of thousands of times.

Szakaly began experimenting with the vector animation program Macromedia Flash back in 1999 where he used the software to create presentations, banners, and other creatives for clients. It was nearly a decade later when he decided to dedicate more time to experimenting with motion graphics and found that Tumblr was a great platform to share his quirky gifs. While he still works in the corporate world on other digital projects, he has also found commercial success making animations for clients around the world. Though it’s his personal work that really stands out. If or when gifs end up on gallery walls, it will be hard to deny Szakaly’s role in getting them there.

The Last Day Posts of Ing on Google+ Site April 1,2019 Part 4

Genocide: Worse Than War | Full-length documentary | PBS

PBS  Published on Jun 4, 2010

This film is also available at https://to.pbs.org/hMZzq0 Watch Daniel Goldhagen’s ground-breaking documentary focused on the worldwide phenomenon of genocide, which premiered on PBS on April 14, 2010. To see this and other full-length PBS videos go to https://video.pbs.org. Please support your local PBS station at https://www.pbs.org/support “By the most fundamental measure — the number of people killed — the perpetrators of mass murder since the beginning of the twentieth century have taken the lives of more people than have died in military conflict. So genocide is worse than war,” reiterates Goldhagen. “This is a little-known fact that should be a central focus of international politics, because once you know it, the world, international politics, and what we need to do all begin to look substantially different from how they are typically conceived.” WORSE THAN WAR documents Goldhagen¹s travels, teachings, and interviews in nine countries around the world, bringing viewers on an unprecedented journey of insight and analysis. In a film that is highly cinematic and evocative throughout, he speaks with victims, perpetrators, witnesses, politicians, diplomats, historians, humanitarian aid workers, and journalists, all with the purpose of explaining and understanding the critical features of genocide and how to finally stop it.

Surreal Nature Illustrations by Tiffany Bozic  by Christopher Jobson

Tiffany Bozic is a self-taught artist based in Marin, CA who has spent the majority of her life observing the intricacies of the natural world.

Drawing inspiration from her extensive travels to wild places, and the research specimens at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, she composes beautiful large-scale nature illustrations blended with surreal and metaphorical themes.

To create her compositions, Bozic uses multiple layers of watered down acrylic paint on maple wood panels which give a realistic level of detail to each of her paintings.

See below a selection of Bozic’s work and find more on her website and Instagram.

What did Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper” really look like? | DW Documentary

LeonardoDaVinci’s Last Supper4.20.19

DW Documentary

Published on Apr 18, 2019

Leonardo’s famous painting “The Last Supper” hides a secret: only 20 percent of the original work is still visible. In the style of a thriller, the documentary attempts to reconstruct what it originally looked like. Leonardo da Vinci was the epitome of the Renaissance Man. May 2019 marks the 500th anniversary of his death. The artist created world-famous works such as the fresco “The Last Supper” – perhaps the most famous. It is still in its original setting, on the wall of the dining room of the former Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. The painting, which is 4.60 meters high and 8.80 meters wide, has been undergoing restoration for the last 19 years. But the restorers now know that only 20 percent of the original is visible today. So what did something that is the focus of so many legends originally look like? Our investigation also takes us to the small Belgian abbey of Tongerlo, where a mysterious copy of da Vinci’s work has been discovered. It is a painting on canvas that could have been commissioned from da Vinci’s workshop by the French King Louis XII. It has perhaps brought the researchers a step closer to the truth. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. Amazing Kinetic Sculptures by Bob Potts

Kinetic sculptor Bob Potts

March 28, 2013  by  Christopher Jobson

Kinetic sculptor Bob Potts creates beautiful kinetic sculptures that mimic the motions of flight and the oars of boats. Despite their intricacy the pieces are surprisingly minimal, Potts seems to use only the essential components needed to convey each motion without much ornamentation or flourish. There is very little information online about the artist, however blogger Daniel Busby managed to get a brief interview with the 70-year-old artist last year. If you liked this, also check the work of Dukno Yoon .

The Last Day Posts of Ing on Google+ Site April 1, 2019 Part 3

The Last Day Posts of Ing on Google+ Site April  1, 2019 Part 3

Google+ is no longer available for consumer (personal) and brand accounts

From all of us on the Google+ team,
thank you for making Google+ such a special place.

What happened to Google+?

In December 2018, we announced our decision to shut down Google+ for consumers in April 2019.

Other Google products (such as Gmail, Google Photos, Google Drive, YouTube) were not shut down as part of the consumer Google+ shutdown and you can continue using those products. The Google Account you use to sign in to these services will remain. Note that photos and videos already backed up in Google Photos will not be deleted. Learn more

What happened to my Google+ content?

We are in the process of deleting content from consumer Google+ accounts and Google+ pages. This process will take a few months to complete, and content may remain through this time. In the meantime, if you previously created content on Google+, you may be able to download and save your remaining Google+ content and delete your Google+ profile. You may also be able to view and delete your remaining Google+ activity.

How landscape designer Piet Oudolf captures nature’s ‘emotion’

PBS NewsHour  Published on Apr 16, 2019

As spring takes hold, sparking thoughts of budding plants and new life, we explore how one of the world’s preeminent landscape designers approaches creating a garden. Piet Oudolf is perhaps best known for his work on New York City’s High Line, though he has designed gardens around the world. Jeffrey Brown met up with Oudolf at his home in the Netherlands to discuss the “emotion” of nature. The Last Day Posts of Ing on Google+ Site April 1,2019 Part 2

The Last Day Posts of Ing on Google+ Site April 1, 2019 Part 2

Hypnotic New Kinetic Sculptures by Anthony Howe

Di-Octo. All stainless steel kinetic wind sculpture. Silent operation. 25’6?h x 10’w x 4’6?”d (7.8m h x 3m w x 1.4m d) 1,600lbs (725kg)

Artist Anthony Howe (previously) continues to amaze with his gargantuan kinetic sculptures powered by wind or motors that cycle continuously through hypnotic motions that resemble something between the tentacles of an octopus and an alien spacecraft. Weighing up to 1,600 lbs (725kg), each artwork is first built digitally to test how it will move and react to the force of wind once fabricated in the real world. Seen here are three new sculptures titled Di-Octo, In Cloud Light III, and Switchback. You can see more recent work in his portfolio.

The Solar-Powered Floating Schools in Bangladesh

Little Bare Feet Go To School

Tip toe, tip toe

Our little bare feet are marching to school
Faces smiling with happiness
We are going to school

“Where is your older sister?”
Is she coming to school too?”

“Oh, she has to stay home taking care of our baby sister.
But I will bring some story books for her.
She will come next week and I will stay home taking care of our sister.”

“Did you read Cinderella?
She lost her shoe.”

“I wish I had her Godmother
Then she can give me a pair of nice shoes.”

“Watch out!
Don’t step on that sharp rock; it will hurt your foot.”

“I can jump over it.
Come on, let’s jump over the rocks.
Oh it’s fun, fun, fun!”

“I wish I can come to school every day
I love to learn and read books.”

“I love our teacher.
She is so nice.”

“Let’s go, I don’t want to be late”

Tip toe, tip toe

Ing-On Vibulbhan-Watts, Tuesday, November 27, 2012, 12:02 A.M.

I usually visit BBC news, reading the news.  I enjoy seeing the, In Pictures, section.  I was so glad to see the pictures of the, Solar-Powered Floating Schools.  As I examined one of the pictures showing a group of children walking to the Solar-Powered Floating School, I noticed that none of the children had shoes.  They were all walking bare foot.  I felt so sad.  When I showed the picture to John I said, “Children here (USA) have so many pairs of shoes, some with fancy designs with light and other luxury shoes.  But some of the children here are still not satisfied and are unhappy with their lifestyle.  Kids here should see the children in this picture that have no normal school and even have no shoes.  I hope they have enough food to survive.”  John’s commented that, “But kids in the picture are smiling, they probably are happier than some of the kids here.”
“A project that provides solar-powered floating schools in Bangladesh has been nominated for an award at the world Innovation Summit in Education in Doha,Qatar.  This year’s shortlisted projects not only “transform education”, but also provide innovative financing of primary education.”

Watch a few clips of ‘2001:A Space Odyssey’ as if it were… painted by Picasso? No, really. Google’s neural network uses a database of Picasso paintings to ‘paint’ the iconic Kubrick film.

Banksy is an anonymous England-based street artist, vandal, political activist, and film director.[1] His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world.[2] Banksy’s work grew out of the Bristol underground scene, which involved collaborations between artists and musicians.[3] Banksy says that he was inspired by 3D, a graffiti artist who later became a founding member of the English musical group Massive Attack.[4]

Banksy displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls and self-built physical prop pieces. Banksy no longer sells photographs or reproductions of his street graffiti, but his public “installations” are regularly resold, often even by removing the wall they were painted on.[5] A small number of Banksy’s works are officially, non-publicly, sold through Pest Control.[6] Banksy’s documentary film Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010) made its debut at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.[7] In January 2011, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary for the film.[8] In 2014, he was awarded Person of the Year at the 2014 Webby Awards.[9]

If I also use Google+ with my G Suite account, for example at work or school, how will I be impacted?

Google+ for G Suite will continue as a way for people across an organization to have discussions. Learn more about how we’re continuing our investment in Google+ for G Suite.

If you’re not sure if your organization uses G Suite, you can check here. G Suite customers may see some changes to Google+ features related to the consumer Google+ shutdown. You can find more details here or you can talk to your G Suite administrator to learn more.

See the full FAQ for more details about the consumer Google+ shutdown.”
